Friday Exercise

Listen to your favorite song three times on repeat. Immediately after the third time, write whatever comes to mind. Write for five minutes and see where you end up. (I played Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car three times and ended up thoroughly depressed.) Ultimately, let the music completely seep in and write what you feel when it stops.

  1. I did this and the song I chose was Pusha Man by Chance The Rapper. I felt a mix of things though! At first it was excitement and my wanting to play it just a few more times. After I told myself to focus, I started to think about the hardships that inner city youth face especially in Chicago (that is where he is from). I’ll definitely do this more often!
